That person is no more
Parts of what made her who she was live on
in the lives she touched
The lives of her daughters…
who struggle to remember her ways
who yearn to hear her tender voice
who walk without returning to her arms.
The life of her husband…
who held her as she left
who woke without her beside him for seven years
who has chosen another wife.
The life of her friend…
who knew her before these
but not after
who shared laughter, tears,
silliness and seriousness
who together studied and
spurred one another en español
and teacher training.
She was taken before her time…
I wish it wasn't what it was.
