He’s such a beautiful poet.
His ability, his talent, his skill,
his humor and humility,
his heart, his tenacity—
Capturing the essence
of a place, a happening,
a system, a moment—
all the feelings,
the big picture, the little details,
the fire, the rain, the sunny day
the lonely times
the dark side of the moon, and
the feeling that it will go on and on…
Yet, all the while, hiding
his stories of love, life, and loss inside
the lyrics and between the measures
of rests and notes,
flats and sharps, chords
of pick and strum,
rhythms and rhymes—
enjoying the passage of time—
from a different time
for another time
for no time
for this time
Sunshine and moonshine
homesickness and happiness
and serendipitous encounters
of people that became
friends or lovers or both
from experience, sharing
the secret of love is in opening up your heart
and
reminding everyone everywhere—
how simple it all really is—
and can be—when
we shower the people we love with love
Somehow describing the depth
of being alive
being left behind or
hit from behind
Getting to the heart
that love’s really the finest
thing around
so we best
whisper
the truths of something soft and kind…
cause these moments
might not come back around
